Abstract

Between 2015 and 2025, 50 newborns with a diagnosis of intrauterine peritonitis were operated on in the neonatal surgery department of the N. F. Filatov Children’s City Clinical Hospital (Moscow); of these, 24 had the adhesive form, and 26 had meconium peritonitis (19 – pseudocystic (group I), and 7 – generalized (group II)). Among patients in group I, the diagnosis was established in utero in 15 cases (mainly in the third trimester); 12 children were delivered via operative delivery; in group II, 7 cases (all in the third trimester) were diagnosed; operative delivery occurred in 4 cases. The cause of generalized peritonitis was perforation of the ileum; in cases of cystic peritonitis, it was most often volvulus of the ileum. During surgical treatment, a stoma was created in 6 children in group I and 14 children in group II; the rest had an anastomosis performed. During the follow‑up examination, mucoviscidosis was detected in 3 children in group I and in 4 children in group II. All children have intestinal autonomy, in group II there was 4 children with temporary malabsorbtion, that was resolved in 6 months. There were no mortality in both groups.
